Malhoun 2.0
is a collaborative travel path to re-position the relation between art and craftmanship within one and the same context again, to remerge relationships, a know how centered around hands, materials and words. The exhibition is a first visual outcome of a larger project based on gatherings between craftsmen, artists, writers and thinkers. It’s an ongoing project deeply rooted in both an historical and a contemporary Moroccan socio-economic and artistic context. ‘Malhoun’ (Arabic الملحون, al-malḥūn), means ‘melodic poem’, and is a form of sung poetry that finds it origins in craftsmen’s guilds.
